Walkability & transit
Car-oriented today, with a more flexible transit model.
Walkability varies considerably by community. Alcona and some village centres place more daily services within a shorter distance, while many neighbourhoods and rural areas remain car-dependent.
Innisfil Transit currently uses a subsidized, distance-based rideshare model that can connect riders across town and to Barrie South GO or Bradford GO. The Town’s Transit Master Plan sets out a phased strategy through 2035.
Growth & development
Growth is a defining part of Innisfil’s next chapter.
The Town is updating its Official Plan to manage housing, infrastructure and services through 2051 while protecting rural character, agricultural lands and Lake Simcoe.
The planned Orbit transit-oriented community around the proposed Innisfil GO Station is one of the municipality’s most significant long-range growth initiatives, but buyers should distinguish approved planning from future transit service that is not yet operating.
