Ramara maintains 13 parks and five public beaches on Lake Simcoe, and also includes Mara and McRae Point provincial parks.
The seven-kilometre Ramara Trail forms part of the Trans Canada Trail and begins near the Mnjikaning Fishing Weirs National Historic Site.

Walkability & getting around
Primarily car-oriented, with Orillia as an important service centre.
Most of Ramara requires driving for daily errands. Brechin and Lagoon City offer more concentrated local amenities, while rural and waterfront areas are dispersed.
Highway 12 and regional roads provide the main connections toward Orillia, Beaverton and other Lake Simcoe communities.
Growth & development
A new Official Plan is now in force.
Ramara’s updated Official Plan was approved by Simcoe County in February 2026 and now guides future land use, environmental protection and growth.
The Township also adopted a new 2025 Recreation Master Plan focused on parks, trails, facilities and programs through the next decade.
